About

Beaker Street with Clyde Clifford was the first underground music program broadcast regularly on a commercial AM radio station in the central US. With few interruptions, the program has continued to be broadcast in various formats throughout the past several decades. The program is currently broadcast live, with Clyde at the helm, on Friday evenings from the Arkansas Rocks Radio Network and streaming platform.

The Beaker Street Database project is a fan based attempt to archive past and present playlists from the Beaker Street Program. The goal is to make the playlists easily accessible and searchable. To that end, we have recorded all 200+ playlists from the current Arkansas Rocks era and are in the process of adding playlists from previous eras.

Notes

What Playlists Do We Have?

We have all the playlists for the current Arkansas Rocks era. New playlists are added weekly after the broadcast.

Playlists from the earlier FM eras were retrieved via the Wayback Machine, where snapshots of the old (offline) beakerstreet.com website can be found. These archived web pages gave us access to hundreds of playlists from Dec 1996 - Feb 2011. However, there are gaps in the archives, primarily for the years 2008-2011, and as a result there are few playlists available for that timeframe.

An overview of the playlists contained in the database is provided in the table below.

As an added feature, when inserting a 'legacy' playlist into the database we included a snapshot of the original web page, created by Clyde, for reference.

Acknowledgments

Thanks to the team of listeners who volunteered their time and effort to work on this project. After half a year and hundreds of man hours focused on data entry we have all available playlists entered into the database. And, of course, thanks to Mr. Clyde Clifford for hosting the program for all these years.
